The role
Nicole Bluvshtein joined Oktopost a month ago as IT Specialist on the Operations team. She works alongside Itamar, our AI Systems Engineer. She’s also in the second year of a three-year BSc in Information Systems at Ono Academic College, so she learns the theory and runs the real thing at the same time.
The day to day
Much of Nicole’s first month has gone to meetings with Julius, AI Systems Engineer, who is onboarding her. The meetings cover three things: which processes still run the old way and need to change, the full scope of what IT covers at Oktopost, and the management platforms the company runs on.
Outside those sessions, her work looks like this:
Permissions and access. When someone needs access to a system or hits a permissions issue, Nicole sorts it out.
Daily security. Oktopost manages a lot of certificates, from SSL/TLS certificates to compliance certifications like SOC 2 and ISO. Nicole keeps them compliant and makes sure other teams stay on top of them under the company’s security policy.
Network maintenance. She keeps the network running and healthy.
Making onboarding run itself
Nicole’s main focus right now is making employee onboarding more efficient. Today, getting a new employee set up with the right access takes a day or two. Her goal is to get that down to just half an hour.
That includes renewals and automations, and making the whole process easier to maintain and easier for the next person to follow.
How she uses AI
Oktopost runs an automation platform called n8n. The company uses many different apps and websites, and n8n connects them so processes run in the background without anyone pushing buttons.
Onboarding is a good example. When a new employee needs access, the goal is for the automation to handle it from start to finish. An automation is only as good as the logic behind it, though, and permissions across dozens of tools get messy fast.
That’s where Claude comes in. Nicole uses Claude to map out the permissions “mess,” so it’s clear exactly what each new person needs. The automation is built on that map.

What actually changed
According to Nicole, IT isn’t what it was even just one year ago. At her previous job, most of the work was helping people with Word and Office. Now it’s processes and automation. The problems are different, and so is basic troubleshooting.
In Nicole’s own words
IT isn’t what it was a year ago. At my previous job, most of my day was helping people with Word and Office. Here, it’s about processes and automation, and the problems look completely different.
Right now my focus is onboarding. Setting up a new employee used to take a day or two. I want to get that down to half an hour, with the automation handling their access from start to finish. The hard part isn’t building the workflow, it’s knowing exactly what each person needs. Claude helps me map out the permissions mess, so the automation has something solid to stand on.
Even basic troubleshooting is different today. You’re not just fixing one problem, you’re figuring out which process caused it and how to keep it from happening again. Nicole Bluvshtein, IT Specialist
